EZTrackIt is a long-established package logging system used by corporate, residential and university mailrooms, built around scanning the shipping label on arrival. It has been doing that job for years, and if it covers what your building needs there is no argument for changing.
The conversations that lead somewhere else usually start outside the mailroom. Procurement wants to know which country personal data is held in. IT asks who has assessed the platform, and when. Somebody in legal wants a data processing agreement before a purchase order is raised. None of that has much to do with scanning, and all of it decides whether a tool survives review.
What to look for in an alternative
A mailroom system holds names, internal addresses, photographs of parcels and a log of who collected what. That is personal data about staff, students or residents, and whoever signs off the purchase will treat it that way even if the mailroom does not.
Put four questions to every vendor and compare the answers rather than the feature lists. Which country is the data stored in? Who are the sub-processors, and will you name them in writing? When was the platform last assessed by someone independent, and what did that assessment cover? Will you sign a data processing agreement as it stands?

Traizr runs on dedicated managed infrastructure with data residency in the United Kingdom and the EU, inside Fasthosts facilities that hold ISO 27001 certification. Two sub-processors are involved, Fasthosts for hosting and Acronis for backup, and both are named rather than described vaguely. For a UK university or a European operator this tends to be the first hurdle, and the one that quietly removes options.
Assessed by someone outside the company
Traizr commissions independent external security assessments through HackerGuardian, a Qualys Approved Scanning Vendor. The most recent returned no critical, high, medium or low findings. That summary and the data processing agreement are available on request through the Trust Centre. Traizr is working towards its own ISO 27001 certification and does not claim to hold it yet.
The whole life of an item
Logging an arrival is the start of the job. Traizr also covers outgoing post, transfers between buildings and virtual office mail, so an item keeps one record wherever it travels instead of leaving the system the moment it comes off the shelf.
What a move actually involves
The mailroom half is quick, because scanning a label and telling somebody it has arrived is the same motion in any system. The part worth scheduling is the review. Get your IT and procurement teams the documents they need at the start rather than three weeks after everyone agreed the software was fine. That material already exists and we send it on request instead of leaving you to chase it.
