About Chronopost

Chronopost is the express subsidiary of La Poste in France, part of the DPDgroup / Geopost network. It specialises in fast next-day domestic and international express delivery, typically with defined delivery windows and the option to redirect parcels to a pickup point.

Where Colissimo carries standard La Poste parcels, Chronopost is what senders choose when speed matters - so if you were promised next-day or a guaranteed time slot, your item is almost certainly travelling with Chronopost.

Chronopost tracking number formats

A Chronopost tracking number is commonly 13 characters in the international S10 format: two letters, nine digits, then the country code FR. You will find it on the Chronopost delivery notification or in the sender's dispatch confirmation.

Chronopost tracking statuses explained

  • Taken in chargeChronopost has collected the parcel (pris en charge) and it has entered the express network.
  • In transitThe parcel is moving through the network between hubs (en transit). On express services these gaps are short.
  • Out for deliveryThe item is with a driver on the delivery round (en cours de livraison), often within a defined time window.
  • DeliveredHanded over at the address (livré). For businesses this means reception or the mailroom received it - not yet the named recipient.
  • Available at a pickup pointHeld at a point de retrait (disponible en point de retrait) after a missed delivery. Bring ID and the collection reference.
  • AttemptedChronopost tried to deliver but couldn't complete it. Check the notification for the next attempt or redirect options.

Chronopost tracking FAQs

How do I track a Chronopost parcel?

Enter your 13-character tracking number (such as XX123456789FR) into the tracker above. You'll see each scan from the moment Chronopost takes charge (pris en charge) through to delivery (livré). The number is on the Chronopost notification or the sender's dispatch email.

What does a Chronopost tracking number look like?

It's commonly 13 characters in the S10 format: two letters, nine digits, then FR - for example XX123456789FR. You'll find it on the Chronopost delivery notification or in the sender's confirmation.

Chronopost vs Colissimo - what's the difference?

Both belong to La Poste. Chronopost is the express service - fast next-day domestic and international delivery with defined time windows - while Colissimo is the standard La Poste parcel service. If you paid for express or got a guaranteed window, it's almost certainly Chronopost.

Where do I collect a Chronopost parcel?

If a delivery is missed, Chronopost often redirects the parcel to a nearby pickup point (point de retrait). The status will read “Available at a pickup point” (disponible en point de retrait). Bring photo ID and the collection reference.

Can Traizr track Chronopost deliveries into my building?

Yes. Traizr picks up once the parcel reaches your building: staff scan each item in, the recipient is notified automatically, and a signature is captured on collection - a complete chain of custody from courier to recipient, beyond the point where Chronopost marks the item livré.

Common Chronopost tracking problems

Missed delivery redirect

If nobody is available, Chronopost often reroutes the parcel to a nearby pickup point. The tracking will show it's waiting for collection at a point de retrait.

Changing the delivery window

Express services let you adjust the time slot or delivery date. Use the Chronopost notification to reschedule before the driver sets out.

ID for collection

To collect from a pickup point you'll usually need photo ID and the collection reference or notification. Without them the parcel won't be released.

Customs on international express

For express parcels crossing borders, tracking can pause during customs clearance. Scans resume once the item is released and back with Chronopost.

What happens after “Delivered”?

For a home address, delivery (livré) is the end of the story. For an office, university, hospital or apartment building, it's only halfway: even an express parcel has reached the door, but it still has to travel from reception to the person it's actually for. That internal leg is invisible to Chronopost - and it's where parcels most often go missing.

Traizr picks up exactly where the Chronopost scan ends, giving your building the same visibility for the internal journey that Chronopost gives for the external one.
