About Colissimo
Colissimo is the parcel service of La Poste, France's national postal operator. It is the most common way parcels reach French homes, whether delivered to the door or dropped at one of the thousands of pickup points (points relais) and La Poste offices across the country.
Because Colissimo is built on the national postal network, almost every online purchase shipped within France travels this way at some point - making it the courier most likely to arrive at a French office, campus or apartment building.
Colissimo tracking number formats
A Colissimo tracking number is typically 13 characters and often begins with 6A, 8R or CX. You will find it in the retailer's dispatch email or the Colissimo delivery notification - not on a separate receipt.
Colissimo tracking statuses explained
- Taken in chargeLa Poste has collected the parcel (pris en charge) - from the sender or a drop-off point - and it has entered the network.
- In transitThe parcel is moving between sorting centres (en cours d'acheminement). Expect quiet gaps between scans, especially overnight.
- Out for deliveryThe item is with a carrier on the delivery round (en cours de livraison) and should arrive that day.
- DeliveredHanded over at the address (livré). For businesses this means reception or the mailroom received it - not yet the named recipient.
- Available at a pickup pointHeld at a point de retrait or La Poste office (à disposition en point de retrait). Bring ID and the collection reference.
Colissimo tracking FAQs
How do I track a Colissimo parcel?
Enter your 13-character tracking number (such as 6A12345678901) into the tracker above. You'll see each scan from the moment La Poste takes charge (pris en charge) through to delivery (livré). The number is on your retailer's dispatch email or the Colissimo notification.
What does a Colissimo tracking number look like?
It's typically 13 characters and often starts with 6A, 8R or CX - for example 6A12345678901. You'll find it in the sender's confirmation email or the Colissimo delivery notification, not on a separate receipt.
Where do I collect a Colissimo parcel?
If nobody is available at the address, Colissimo often leaves the parcel at a nearby pickup point (point de retrait) or a La Poste office. The status will read “Available at a pickup point” (à disposition en point de retrait). Bring photo ID and the collection reference.
Why is my Colissimo tracking not updating?
Tracking normally pauses between scans, such as overnight while the parcel moves through the network (en cours d'acheminement). If there's been no update for several days, ask the retailer or sender to raise an enquiry with Colissimo.
Can Traizr track Colissimo deliveries into my building?
Yes. Traizr picks up once the parcel reaches your building: staff scan each item in, the recipient is notified automatically, and a signature is captured on collection - a complete chain of custody from courier to recipient, beyond the point where Colissimo marks the item livré.
Common Colissimo tracking problems
Sent to a pickup point
If delivery to the address isn't possible, the parcel is often redirected to a point de retrait or La Poste office. The tracking will show it's waiting for collection there.
Delivery attempted while out
Colissimo tried to deliver but nobody was available. Check the notification for the pickup location or arrange a new attempt.
ID needed for collection
To collect from a pickup point or La Poste office you'll usually need photo ID and the collection reference or notification. Without them the parcel won't be released.
International handoff
For parcels sent from abroad, tracking can go quiet during the handover between the origin carrier and La Poste. Scans usually resume once Colissimo takes charge in France.
What happens after “Delivered”?
For a home address, delivery (livré) is the end of the story. For an office, university, hospital or apartment building, it's only halfway: the parcel has reached the door, but it still has to travel from reception to the person it's actually for. That internal leg is invisible to Colissimo - and it's where parcels most often go missing.
Traizr picks up exactly where the Colissimo scan ends, giving your building the same visibility for the internal journey that Colissimo gives for the external one.
