About DPD

DPD UK is one of Britain's largest express parcel carriers and part of Geopost / DPDgroup. It is best known for Predict - the service that gives you a one-hour delivery window, live tracking of the driver on a map, and notifications you can act on before the van arrives.

DPD is strong in both business-to-business and business-to-consumer delivery, so its parcels arrive at offices, campuses and residential blocks as well as homes. When a delivery can't be completed, parcels are commonly held at the local depot or diverted to a DPD Pickup shop for collection.

DPD tracking number formats

A DPD parcel number is usually 14 digits. It is sometimes displayed next to a separate reference or consignment number from the retailer, but the 14-digit parcel number is the one the tracker needs. You will find it in the DPD notification or the sender's dispatch email.

DPD tracking statuses explained

  • We're expecting your parcelPre-advice: DPD has the shipment details from the sender but has not yet taken physical possession of the parcel.
  • At the depotThe parcel has arrived at your local DPD depot and is waiting to be loaded onto a delivery round.
  • Out for deliveryThe parcel is on the van with a one-hour Predict window and, once the driver sets off, live map tracking.
  • DeliveredHanded over at the address or left per your instructions. For a business this means reception or the mailroom received it - not yet the named recipient.
  • Delivery attemptedNo one was available, so the driver has carded the address. The parcel is usually held at the depot or rebooked for another day.

DPD tracking FAQs

How do I track a DPD parcel?

Enter your DPD parcel number into the tracker above to see each scan from pre-advice to delivery. Your number is in the DPD notification or the retailer's dispatch email. On the day, Predict shows a one-hour window and, once out for delivery, live map tracking of the driver.

What is DPD Predict / the one-hour window?

Predict is DPD's delivery-window service. On the morning of delivery you get a one-hour slot; when the driver sets off you can follow them on a map and see how many stops away they are. From the same notification you can change the day, redirect to a neighbour or Pickup shop, or leave safe-place instructions.

What does a DPD tracking number look like?

It's usually 14 digits, sometimes shown alongside a separate reference or consignment number from the retailer. The 14-digit parcel number is the one the tracker needs - look for it in the DPD notification or dispatch email.

Why is my DPD parcel stuck at the depot?

A parcel can sit at the depot overnight before its delivery day, after a missed delivery, or while it waits to be loaded. If a delivery was attempted while you were out, use the Predict notification to pick a new day, redirect it, or collect from the depot with ID.

Can Traizr track DPD deliveries into my building?

Yes. DPD's tracking ends when the driver marks it delivered to your address. Traizr picks up from there: the parcel is scanned in at reception, the recipient is notified automatically, and a signature is captured on collection.

Common DPD tracking problems

Missed the one-hour window

Use the Predict notification to change the delivery, upgrade to a set day, or redirect the parcel to a neighbour or a DPD Pickup shop before the driver arrives.

Held at the depot for collection

After a missed delivery the parcel is often held locally. Check the tracking or card for the depot and opening hours, and take ID to collect it.

“Delivery attempted” while you were out

The driver has carded the address. From the notification you can rebook a day, leave safe-place instructions, or send it to a Pickup shop for a time that suits you.

Changing the day or safe place

DPD lets you manage the delivery from the Predict message - set a new date, nominate a safe place, or redirect. Do it before the parcel is out for delivery.

What happens after “Delivered”?

For a home address, DPD's one-hour window and photo confirmation are the end of the story. For an office, university, hospital or apartment building, it's only halfway: the parcel has reached the door - usually reception - but it still has to travel to the person it's actually for. That internal leg is invisible to DPD, and it's where parcels most often go missing.

Traizr picks up exactly where the DPD driver's scan ends, giving your building the same visibility for the internal journey that Predict gives for the external one.
