About SDA

SDA (SDA Express Courier) is Poste Italiane's express-courier subsidiary and one of the major parcel-delivery networks in Italy. It handles e-commerce and business shipments across the country, using the Italian delivery vocabulary in its tracking updates.

Because SDA is part of the Poste Italiane group, its shipments are often visible across linked tracking systems, and parcels move through a national network of hubs and delivery depots - from accettato to consegnato.

SDA tracking number formats

A SDA tracking number is a numeric parcel/shipment number supplied by the sender or in your dispatch notification. Because SDA is part of Poste Italiane, the same number often works across their linked tracking tools.

SDA tracking statuses explained

  • Accepted (Accettato)SDA has received the parcel from the sender and it has entered the network.
  • In transit (In transito)The parcel is moving between hubs and the local delivery depot. Expect quiet gaps between scans.
  • Out for delivery (In consegna)The parcel is with a driver on the delivery round and should arrive that day.
  • Delivered (Consegnato)Handed over at the address. For businesses this means reception or the mailroom received it - not yet the named recipient.
  • Held (In giacenza)Held for collection, usually after a failed delivery. It waits at a depot or pickup point for a limited time.

SDA tracking FAQs

How do I track a SDA parcel?

Enter your parcel or shipment number into the tracker above - a numeric code from the retailer or the SDA dispatch notification. You'll see each step from accepted (accettato) through to delivered (consegnato).

What does a SDA tracking number look like?

It's a numeric parcel or shipment number, supplied by the sender or in your dispatch notification. Because SDA is part of Poste Italiane, the same number often works across their linked tracking systems.

My SDA parcel is held (in giacenza) - what does that mean?

“In giacenza” means the parcel is being held for collection, usually after a failed delivery. It waits at an SDA depot or pickup point for a limited time. Check your notification for where to collect it and what ID to bring.

What does “delivered” mean at a business address?

For an office, campus or apartment block, “delivered” (consegnato) means SDA handed the parcel to reception or a mailroom - not to the named person. Internal tracking software like Traizr takes over from that point.

Can Traizr track SDA parcels automatically?

Traizr tracks parcels once they reach your building: staff scan each item in, the recipient is notified automatically, and a signature is captured on collection - a complete chain of custody from courier to recipient.

Common SDA tracking problems

Held for collection (in giacenza)

If your parcel is “in giacenza”, it's waiting at a depot or pickup point after a failed delivery. Collect it promptly with ID before the holding period ends.

Delivery attempted

If nobody was available, SDA records the attempt and usually retries or holds the parcel. Check your notification for the retry or collection option.

Linked to Poste Italiane

SDA is part of the Poste Italiane group, so your parcel may appear across linked tracking tools. Use the SDA shipment number to see the full delivery history.

Tracking not updating

Scans pause between hubs, especially overnight. If nothing changes for several days past the expected date, contact the sender to raise an enquiry with SDA.

What happens after “Delivered”?

For a home address, delivery is the end of the story. For an office, university, hospital or apartment building, it's only halfway: the parcel has reached the door, but it still has to travel from reception to the person it's actually for. That internal leg is invisible to SDA - and it's where parcels most often go missing.

Traizr picks up exactly where the courier scan ends, giving your building the same visibility for the internal journey that SDA gives for the external one.

How Traizr tracks SDA deliveries inside your building

Most tracking stops at “Delivered”. Traizr continues the journey - from the front desk to the recipient's signature.
